Overall, this is a pretty good system. I bought this for my iPhone 3GS and haven't noticed any issues with it yet. But like others have said, the display is a little too bright.
I didn't find the display too bright, as has been mentioned often, but it's also not next my head, it's across the room at the foot of the bed. Got ICF-C1IPMK2 yesterday. But, I think the display could use more contrast - so the digits don't wash out in the back light. Had a chance to fiddle with it, set it up, use the sleep mode, listen to music, and use the "remote commander". First impression is the sound is better than expected, pretty crisp, the bass distorts on some stuff if it's too loud, but I'm using it my bedroom, and that won't be an issue (plus the test song was "White Lines" by Grandmaster Flash, a little extreme). Only other quibble would be that the "remote commander" could use some glow paint so its buttons are visible in dark for a while. Pretty happy with it though, glad I made the purchase.
If you want a bedside speaker for your iPod this will do. The FM & AM antenna make no improvement over reception.
Don't expect any spectacular sound or enjoyment from your music. If you want a simple way to play your music on your iPod or iPhone while in the kitchen or on your bedside table this will make do.
Also, the radio reception is the worst of any radio I have tried. The speakers are not impressive.
Decent for listening to podcasts but NOT for entertainment or great music listening enjoyment. Do NOT buy this for the radio.
Anything else and you will not be impressed.
You cannot imagine how frustrated and angry I was after waiting 2 weeks for this thing to arrive and finding out it is not compatible with my iPhone. Not to mention that it would ask me to put the thing in airplane mode when I fit it firmly on the connector. After searching discussion boards, Sony's site and Apple's site I found that the latest software makes this speaker system incompatible with the Apple iPhone. When I say incompatible I mean no sound would come out of the speakers incompatible. Of course the remote was not compatible with it either.I can't say that this product is a dud, but I can say if you are looking for a nice speaker system to go with your iPhone look elsewhere. This one doesn't work at all.[.].
It casts shadows on a wall 10' away. I haven't hit snooze or turned off the radio), the second alarm (the buzzer) won't come on. I mean so bright that it will keep you awake. This is very close to a 5-star product, but a few things hold it back.Pros: Good sound for the price and size, good iPod integration, fully functional remote control with tactile dots, big display, dual alarms, adjustable backstop for various sizes of iPods. The cons above are my only real complaints, and they will only bother some people. The second alarm came on 10 minutes later with a loud beeping, in case I wasn't inclined to get up with the radio. That won't work with this unit because if the first alarm is still going (i.e.
With my old clock, I'd set the first alarm to come on with the radio, which would gently wake me up.
I scoured the instructions for a way to turn it down, but couldn't find it.
Strong stations come in great, but I can only receive one of my two local public radio stations more than half the time, whereas my old clock could get both about 90% of the time. So, I would definitely recommend this product to pretty much anyone who wants to wake to a playlist, or fall asleep to one like I do.
Accepts the standard brackets that Nanos come with.Cons (nit-picky): 1) The back light for the display is BRIGHT.
Instead, it just blinks the alarm display symbol on the clock face, which you won't notice unless you're looking right at it.3) Radio reception is only average, even with the included wire antennae.
I stumbled on it accidentally when I pressed the snooze bar when the alarm wasn't going off.
But even the lowest setting is so bright that I have to put the remote in front of the clock face before I can get to sleep.2) The dual alarms are nice, but the second won't override the first.
Even without the iPod functionality it's a pretty decent clock radio.
If you can live with them, then you will be very happy with this unit.
